The Daily Mail has the details on an important breaking story about DACA (Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals). After cowardly former President Obama lashed out at President Trump for his plan to end the unconstitutional program, Trump hit back hard, issuing a statement that reassures critics and puts Obama in his place. Trump humiliates Obama yet again. It’s become something we’re used to hearing daily by now.
Obama’s place is not in the White House. Obama’s place is sitting on his couch watching TV and staying out of the way while the real adults get to work led by President Trump.
Trump’s plan to end DACA was announced by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Around 800,000 children of illegal immigrants, including many who are now full-grown adults, will now be eligible for deportation.
An hour after Sessions dropped the bombshell, Trump put out a written statement explaining why DACA is a goner.
Protesters swarmed outside Trump Tower following the decision and the usual suspects whined on social media.
In fact, as Trump explained in his statement, “my highest duty is to defend the American people and the Constitution of the United States of America. At the same time, I do not favor punishing children, most of whom are now adults, for the actions of their parents. But we must also recognize that we are nation of opportunity because we are a nation of laws.”
Indeed, if the law is cruel then the Democrats should have worked to change the law instead of having their Liar In Chief pass an unconstitutional executive action to force it through. Trump said exactly that, writing that Obama’s order “bypassed Congress to give work permits, social security numbers, and federal benefits to approximately 800,000 illegal immigrants currently between the ages of 15 and 36. The typical recipients of this executive amnesty, known as DACA, are in their twenties. Legislation offering these same benefits had been introduced in Congress on numerous occasions and rejected each time.”
In other words Obama couldn’t ram through legislation the American people didn’t want so he just ignored them and made it into a law.
In his statement Trump even held open the possibility of immigration reform, improving the Green Card system and overall working to make immigration into the United States better. As he said, “Congress now has the opportunity to advance responsible immigration reform that puts American jobs and American security first. We are facing the symptom of a larger problem, illegal immigration, along with the many other chronic immigration problems Washington has left unsolved.”
It’s enough that Obama created the problem, couldn’t he at least step out of the way now and let President Trump fix it?
