Hurricane Harvey is the worst natural catastrophe America has ever seen. It took the lives of more than 40 Americans, and hundreds of thousands citizens lost their homes. The floods affected the southeastern areas of Texas, and the tropical storm made its way to Louisiana. President Donald and First Lady Melania visited flood victims, and gave their support to everyone in need. President Trump made something amazing, and he has people cheering to his decision.
President Trump signed a declaration yesterday, and designated Sunday as a day of prayer for Harvey victims. “From the beginning of our nation, Americans have joined together during times of great need to ask for God’s blessing and God’s guidance. It’s going to be a very special day. I don’t know when this was done last, but it’s been a long time ago,” the President said to the clergy that accompanied him in the Oval Office.
President Trump was amazed with the way people helped each other. We saw entire families helping their neighbors. We saw strangers helping other strangers. “When we look at Texas and Louisiana, we see the American spirit of service embodied by countless men and women. Brave first responders have rescued those stranded in drowning cars and rising water,” the President said.
Our leader didn’t forget to mention the Coast Guard and the lives they saved.
“As response and recovery efforts continue, and as Americans provide much needed relief to the people of Texas and Louisiana, we are reminded of scripture’s promise that ‘God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.’ Melania and I are grateful to everyone devoting time, effort and resources to the ongoing response, recovery and rebuilding efforts. We invite all Americans to join us as we continue to pray for those who have lost family members or friends and for those who are suffering in this time of crisis,” the proclamation says.
The President invited his American friends to join him and pray for everyone who lost a close family member and friend. He gave his full support to those who still suffer from the natural disaster.
