Today, President Donald Trump is going to Naples, Florida to meet with first responders of Hurricane Irma.
But of course, he won’t be going alone, there is always Melania to accompany him. But this time, except for Melania, there’s someone else tagging along.
His wife, First lady Melania Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen Pence, will be flying with the president. Naples saw massive damage and wind blasts of around 140 mph.
“I will be traveling to Florida tomorrow to meet with our great Coast Guard, FEMA and many of the brave first responders [and] others,” Trump wrote on Twitter on Wednesday.
Homeland Security adviser Tom Bossert stated that the planning for the president’s visit was done in a discussion with Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s team. Cautious thought was delivered to how the president can visit the ruined zone and meet with first responders without interrupting the recovery actions.
“The president is going to go down as soon as he can tomorrow to make sure that he thanks the people that have been working so tirelessly to help others in this storm,” Bossert pointed on Fox News Wednesday morning.
Bossert added that Donald Trump will most likely plan future visits to the area to “focus on recovery.”
An official confirmed to ABC News that a visit to the U.S. Virgin Islands is also likely to happen, and if it does happen, it wouldn’t happen until next few months.
This is the third trip the president has made in reaction to a natural disaster striking the United States. After record flooding from Hurricane Harvey ruined areas of Texas previously this month, the president made two visits, first to Corpus Christi and Austin on Aug. 29 and later to Houston on Sept. 2.
Speaking of Trump visiting the devastated areas, Vice President Mike Pence will accompany President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump during Thursday’s visit to Southwest Florida in the wake of Hurricane Irma.
Pence’s plane, Air Force 2, is set to fly into Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), as reported by the White House. At RSW, the VP will join the president for a briefing on Hurricane Irma.
