In the midst of tragedy usually comes the best in humanity. But, that is not always the case. Many people have decided to take advantage of others’ displacement by looting and stealing during Hurricane Irma. The storm has made its way to the United States mainland, hitting Florida very hard. And instead of seeing people help each other, much of what we are seeing is illegal.
Looters are the lowest of the low. That is why in many places around the country, we see law enforcement push for harsher sentences for people that loot during a disaster such as this one. These looters were caught in camera in the act and police were quick to begin the search.
And some good news out of Florida has finally arrived. Law enforcement officers have found the guilty parties and taken appropriate action. This is a welcome sight for the millions of people that had to leave their homes in order to get out of the path of Irma. They have no way to get back to their stuff and are stuck where ever they are.
“We want everyone to be safe during the hurricane. And we will not tolerate thieves taking advantage of those evacuating their homes. Looters need to be prepared to go to jail if they try to take advantage of people during a state of emergency,” police said in a statement.
Take a look at the video that was caught of these thugs in action:

It seems that people have no sense of right and wrong. They deserve to be punished in whatever way law enforcement choose. There is simply no excuse for this kind of behavior. The fact that they are stealing from those that are suffering so much is sickening to say the least.
Police have stepped up to the challenge and vowed that they would catch the people that are responsible for looting. They have officers patrolling everywhere and will be ready to take action if they need to.
